Parenting / Re: An almost 3yo who wont talk!
« on: May 01, 2009, 09:25:43 PM »
I would have her evaluated by a speech therapist.  My son didn't speak either and I was being told he just wasn't talking because I talked for him or becaue he wasn't around other kids or he was going to be a late talker.  Well we had him evaluated and with that and the history we gave the speech therapist, he was diagnosed with Verbal Apraxia.  Don't wait to get her seen by someone....if nothing is wrong then your mind will be eased.

What is the therapy for verbal apraxia? We have a grandson that we are concerned about.  He has started a head start school but not sure to what extent the speech therapy is??

blue bird and indigo bunting ,so you can see the difference.

I love feeding the birds and bird watching. Years ago my son was home from college and I asked him to unload the bird food from the car. After hauling it all up to the shed he said  "Mom I think your birds are eatting better then I am"    lol  ;D

I also use the short votive cups to put jelly in also. No orioles yet - I am so disappointed  :( ,but as I said before, last year was the first year that I ever had them stop by. The hummingbirds are back to my feeders and the gold finch ,indigo bunting, and a rare one- the rose-breasted grosbeak are so pretty this year. It looks like a tropical paradise with all the bright colors.

My bf and I went to the theater to see it with friends . He had to leave the theater and I was actually sobbing through some parts of it. We lost our dog last year to cancer. Its a good movie but heartbreaking.

http://www.bettycrocker.com/Recipes/Recipe.aspx?recipeId=36826 I have used this recipe and variations of it for years . I don't make my own pie crust. i use one of the refrigerated roll out ones. basically you can add whatever you want to the egg/cream base. Mushrooms tend to make it kind of soggy.

I just heard on the Scanner / bound and gagged in W-Ville??????
« on: April 20, 2009, 08:27:37 PM »
Last night I heard on the scanner the cops called to Dogwood Trailer park, lot 19( W-Ville) . The man had been bound and gagged and injured in some way  "a fair amount of blood " in his residence and the assailant had ran out the back door. I went to bed and didn't hear the end of it.
Did they find who did this ? Was it random or a personal attack?

isn't it supposed to be 4 cups water 1 cup sugar....i've heard it can kill them if you alter it....lmk don't want to hurt the little birdies

Thats the recipe I use for hummingbirds and 1 c. sugar and 6 c. water for orioles.

This is similiar to the feeder I have it has cups on top for the jelly and it holds about 12 ounces of sugar water. 1 - 6 sugar - water ratio and the oj half on top.

:woohoo: I had a hummingbird at my feeder today.  :woohoo: I also put up my oriole feeder today. I hope to attract them back this year . Last year was the first time in my 20 years here that I had them at my feeders . They started out trying to get into the hummingbird feeder and then I bought an oriole feeder and put out grape jelly and oranges for them.

I always wait until May 1.
I usually wait until May also  accept for peas , I get them in as soon as I can.  One year I put all my tomatoes and peppers in at the end of April and we had a bad hail storm that just chopped them  off . The next we had a hard frost, so I try to be patient and wait. The almanac says that the moon is favorable 4/24 - 4/30 so maybe I'll try to push my luck?

vinca minor is good for shade and has cute purple flowers, probably not good for constant foot traffic but it has held up for years around my foundation in full shade.

Women's Corner / Re: Dry legs
« on: March 16, 2009, 03:41:32 PM »
Congrats on the no smoking anniversary. I quite Thanksgiving over 3 years ago, An old friend stopped by yesterday and I had the urge for a cigarette from watching her smoke. I smoked one and figured out I'm not missing anything. Saving alot of money too!

I use Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil for dry flakey legs . I put it on while I'm still wet just after my shower it goes right in the skin without feeling greasy. I've been using it for years. Its about 10.00 at walmart and a large bottle lasts about a year.

Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown

An easy no yeast bread
