Law Enforcement/Economic Development Tax on Nov Ballot?
Pete:
I would have voted for a LE tax. Now they are trying to add onto it with the ED or whatever. I am about to consider this dead. NO Vote for sure!
Yankee Trader:
Law can you pass on any information to the folks about your commissioner meeting Monday since I heard there was zero media coverage there???
Law101:
I would have posted my info earlier but the board was down.
The LE Tax and the ED Tax will be two separate issues when they are put on the ballot. Comm. Farnham wants to wait until after whoever the elected Commissioners are who take office in January. His reason for doing this is because he feels 1/8 of a cent tax is not going to make enough of a difference. Hopefully, he will be re-elected and who ever is elected for the Western District will also be in favor of a 1/2 cent LE Tax.
Two other community members were also at the meeting and shared my time on the agenda. There was a lot said by all of us and all of the Commissioners listened and discussed what we had to say.
The bad news is that we can look for major cuts for all departments when the new budget is prepared for next year. These cuts will probably cause the loss of two positions in the PCSD.

Dear Law101, Thank You for the news that I will lose two positions next year. Somehow the "official" word has not yet made it to my office. I feel that this news is the final vindication of my efforts.
Since the middle of 2005 I have called for more resources for the county in general and a LE tax in particular. I was told I was stupid, did not understand the situation and a host of other ways to let me know I was off the mark. I no longer feel "off the mark". In fact right now I feel pretty smart.

okie the thread killer:
NIce when you have to hear about your department budget cuts on a message board, huh JB? What a way to live....
