Boiled Ochra
darrellmaurina:
Try it with kimchi. It will kill the taste, and anything that might be living in the okra (and your stomach, too).
"Fusion cuisine" takes on a whole new meaning and it gets real interesting when you go for dinner to the home of a Korean wife who married a southern soldier, which is common around here.
It's been almost two decades now, but I still remember the July 4 meal with rice, various hot sauces, and corn-on-the-cob when I was living in New York City and invited to the home of a refugee from Communist persecution who was extremely happy to live in America. She had been a member of her country' national Olympic team who negotiated her de-facto defection on condition that she could bring her husband to America but had to leave her children and most of her money in her home country as a guarantee that she wouldn't say anything bad about her country to the media, and she wanted to try to have a traditional American Independence Day meal. It wasn't very traditional, but I certainly appreciated the effort.

You never heard of Lamberts Cafe, the home of the "throw'd rolls"? That's a Missouri institution, and I don't mean a mental hospital.
