Four Thursday wrecks damage six vehicles, hurt eight peopleBUCKHORN/CROCKER/STOUTLAND, Mo. (Aug. 20, 2009) — Two early morning wrecks in Buckhorn and two nighttime wrecks injured eight people and damaged six vehicles on Thursday. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, the two morning wrecks happened within just a few minutes of each other at 6:10 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., both around mile marker 155. The first wreck involved a 2008 Acura driven by Jerry S. Koplan, 56, of Scottsdale, Ariz., who had been eastbound when he ran off the left side of the roadway, collided with the median cables, and suffered minor injuries. The second wreck happened when a 2007 International semi truck driven by Craig A. Swinehart, 36, of Mishawaka, Ind., was eastbound when he ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the median cables, ran off the right side of the roadway, and struck a sign before overturning. Swineheart suffered moderate injuries; the semi was totaled. The two evening wrecks also happened within a brief time period. David Etheridge, 22, of Crocker, was eastbound on Brooklyn Road a mile west of Crocker at 7:34 p.m. when his 2003 Dodge rounded a blind corner and struck a westbound 1992 Cadillac Deville head-on driven by George O. Myers, 69, also of Crocker. Neither driver was hurt but two passengers in Etheridge’s vehicle, Jeffrey Franklin, 7, and Amber Ransome, 28, all of Crocker, both suffered minor injuries. East of the county line, a crash on Laclede County Route FF about two miles east of Route T extensively damaged two vehicles and injured four Richland residents. Linda S. Owen, 50, was westbound in a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 when it was struck in the left side by a 1993 Mazda Protégé driven by William S. McDonald, 19, while turning into a private driveway. Both drivers suffered minor injuries, as did Owen’s passenger, Margaret Lytell, 47; McDonald’s passenger, Michael L. Robinson, 23, of Richland, suffered moderate injuries.
