CROCKER/SWEDEBORG/EDGAR SPRINGS, Mo. (Aug. 24, 2009) — Three weekend wrecks totaled two vehicles, damaged an ATV, and sent five people to area hospitals. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, a Saturday afternoon ATV crash on Blue Jay Road a half-mile west of Crocker caused moderate injuries to tChristopher M. Haggith, 19, of Dixon, and serious injuries to his passenger, Elizabeth K. Faulkner, 19, of Crocker, who had been northbound on Blue Jay Road at 6:55 p.m. when their 1999 Polaris ATV began sliding on the gravel road, ran off the left side of the roadway, and overturned, ejecting both riders. Shortly before midnight on Sunday, Randall R. Ludtke, 54, of Waynesville, suffered moderate injuries and totaled his 2005 GMC when he was driving southbound on Highway 63 about two miles north of Edgar Springs, reached down to retrieve an item, swerved off the roadway, struck a guardrail, continued down an embankment and struck a tree. Slightly more than two hours later, troopers responded to Boston Road about a mile and a half north of Swedeborg where they found a 1986 Ford F-150 pickup truck propped against a guardrail and two Crocker residents seriously injured inside. Dennis A. McMurtrey, 49, had been northbound at 2:05 a.m. when he skidded in a curve, ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a concrete barrier, and his pickup landed on its side against a guardrail, badly injuring both himself and his passenger, Shawn A. Pierce, 33. The pickup was totaled. In unrelated weekend incidents, state troopers arrested Erick Carrasco, 22, of St. Robert, Stella M. Harper, 32, of Waynesville, Marcin Radwan, 29, of Rolla, David A. Kwiatkowski, 43, of St. Louis, and James T. Narvarro, 23, of Richland, on various charges.
