Highway 7 crash kills motorcyclist

Jack's Towing personnel remove a wrecked motorcycle.
Highway 7 crash kills motorcyclist
RICHLAND, Mo. (Oct. 10, 2009) — For the second time in a week, emergency personnel closed Highway 7 south of Richland due to a crash that claimed the life of a motorist. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports, Saturday’s fatal crash happened when Randy L. Fishback, 52, of Richland, was northbound on Highway 7 riding a 2005 Iron Horse motorcycle about 5:30 p.m. and and passed a northbound 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Connie L. Shrewsbury, 54, of Waynesville, at the base of a hill. Fishback’s motorcycle overturned, throwing him from the motorcycle into the path of the pickup truck which then struck him. The motorcycle was totaled and removed by Jack’s Towing. Shrewsbury’s pickup truck sustained only minor damage and was driven from the scene; she was not hurt by the crash. RIP brother. I cannot believe that my wife and I just met you only six hours before this accident. You are one hell of a guy, and having only met you briefly, you are missed. I wish to all your family, friends and biker brothers my best. For all those haters out there bashing riders, please get a grip. We do not need that type of chatting after losing someone. At least think about the family before posting idiotic rants like that.

Again, RIP brother.................................

Randy was a very close personal friend of mine.  I've known him the biggest portion of my life as we shared the same hometown and many mutual friends.  In '07 we went to Sturgis together and lived in the same toyhauler for a week.  It was one of the best vacations I've ever had and that partly because Randy was one of the most fun loving, intelligent and humorous guys I've ever been around.

Randy and I also shared a love for Harleys and choppers (and he had the coolest chopper in the area).  He was a true biker to the core - before bikers were "cool". And although he had a few incidents on bikes he very much was one of the best handlers of a motorcycle I have ever seen.  His favorite saying about bikes/bikers was, "Don't call 'em a biker until you've seen 'em ride" and boy could Randy ride!  I could ride for miles beside, behind or in front of him knowing full well that he controlled his machine as a pro.

He was known for his loud laugh and his "WOOOOOT" but he also had a very soft and sensitive side to him as well.  Just last week I told him some things happening in my life and he genuinely and sincerely offered his help in any way possible - and he absolutely meant it.  When others were always quick to judge or dismiss me Randy was always there to listen, empathize and offer advice without being overbearing.

My deepest sympathies go out to his wife Sharon and his daughter Jessie. And although he loved them both deeply (he often said Sharon was the only saint left that could put up with his crap) I know for a fact that leaving this world on a bike was his choice of departures as we had that conversation MANY times.

RIP my brother..... you will be sorely missed yet never forgotten!

I have known Randy ALL of my life. He and my sister, Sharon, got together in December 1973, before I was born in 1974. My whole life, it was never "Sharon" It was always "Sharon and Randy" And then, later, "Sharon, Randy, and Jessi" (no e, she is kind of particular about that!). I know that Sharon and Jessi will both want to know the wonderful things that are being written about Randy here. I will tell them when I talk to them today. We are all (the rest of the family) rather stunned, but Sharon and Jessi are most likely completely devastated. They were a happy, model family. When I talk about my 9 brothers and sisters, Sharon is referred to as "The Good One" She really is a saint, and by far my favorite sibling. I can't fathom how this could have happened to such wonderful, strong people. They were the only couple, other than my parents, that stayed together my whole life. RIP Randy.

Randy is a cousin of mine. Long Distance, but still a cousin. I have never met him, but his brother Ray was my neighbor when we owned a lake house. The Fishback family is very saddened by the loss. I am not a Fishback by name but one by blood.

I don't know if it is true or not, but didn't his brother Ray die a few years back?
Go ahead and blame me....Everyone else does

As far as I know Ray is alive and well and living in Richland.   He owns the trailer court by the high school
