Retired city administrator joins struggling sewer board today

Retired city administrator joins struggling sewer board today
PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. (Oct. 20, 2009) — When its board convenes today, for the first time in months, the Pulaski County Sewer District will have a full complement of five board members. The newest member, Gary Porter, will join a sewer board that has been a target of controversy for years. County commissioners have had considerable difficulty finding people willing to serve on a board that has been subjected to widespread public criticism for various reasons and is also involved in a lawsuit against the city of Waynesville over who can provide sewer service in areas which are now inside the city limits but were not at the point the sewer district was organized. Porter, now retired, had been the city administrator for St. Robert and later for Waynesville. He’s also been an advocate of expanding sewer service for many years. Gary Porter is a good man.  He cares about the community and he will not take any c... from anybody, I don't care who they are.
Very good choice.

Yup to all the above remarks. But he is a hard charger and since I do know this I offered him a bullet resistant vest this morning before the meeting. He chose to go forth without protection.

Hey was Gary really wearing the hat in the board meeting today or did I just miss it?

I wasn't there but if he was they are lucky to have him wearing it.  He will do what is right.  Now I have heard the pennies screaming in his pocket as he squeezes them, but he has a brilliant mind when it comes to finances and business.

I see that you do know him well. Those pennies sure do make a lot of noise.
