by Maria Neider, KY3 News 12:38 p.m. CDT, October 26, 2011   SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is handling numerous calls about a strong odor across the Ozarks.  Runners complained about the smell early Wednesday morning.
KY3 News has received reports from Springfield, Clever, Republic, Ozark, Lebanon, Willard, Waynesville, St. Robert, Rolla, Neosho and around Fellows Lake north of Springfield to name just a few.  People have described the stench as smelling like "feces" and "rancid milk."
The Springfield Public Works Department is looking into the reports.

On Facebook, there have been complaints of a manure odor as far as Nashville, Tenn.

Probably weather related with all the open sewage ponds around the Ozarks. Big inversion with warm sewage water and the stink can't escape the lower layers of the atmosphere.

When I went out this morning to take son to event, around 7:30 am there was a odd smell, couldnt place it as a particular smell besides like metallic burning smell. That was my take on it of course lol (St Robert)
